Updated 28 May 2024
We had previously undertaken a comprehensive inspection under our previous methodology of The Boathouse Dental Surgery on 11 October 2023 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. We found the registered provider was not providing safe and well-led care and was in breach of regulations 12, 17, 18 and 19 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. We undertook a follow up focused assessment on 1 August 2024. This assessment was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to confirm that the practice was now meeting legal requirements. The provider had made significant improvements. These included the management of staff recruitment and training, but a number of the improvements required remained outstanding which meant they had not fully responded to a breach of regulation 17 (good governance) that we found at our inspection on 11 October 2023. The practice is in Goring and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and private and NHS dental care and treatment for children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 4 dentists, 1 dental nurse, 3 student dental nurses, 2 dental hygienists and 2 receptionists. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with a dentist, a dental nurse and a receptionist.
