During a routine inspection
People told us they were pleased with the practice. They said they received clear explanations of proposed treatments and any fees they would be required to pay. We saw four sets of treatment records. They contained details of examinations and proposed treatments, gave a clear indication of costs and had been signed by the patient. This showed us that people were supported to understand the care, treatment and support provided.
Staff we spoke with all told us that good communication with people was an important part of their work. One staff member said 'We listen to people's needs.' One parent said 'The dentist was brilliant.' A patient complimented the layout of the practice, telling us 'They have surgeries on the ground floor. I'd rather be seen downstairs.'
The practice had a dedicated sterilisation room, staffed by a sterilisation technician, for the cleaning, sterilisation and re-packaging of dental instruments. Staff undertook regular checks on equipment to ensure that it was working effectively.
The practice took steps to ensure that staff were trained and supported to carry out their roles and maintain their skills. It also undertook regular audits and surveys to help it to maintain and improve standards.
