The toilet and bathroom off the main entrance hall had been refitted. New waterproof wall panels, pipe work, flooring and toilets and wash hand basins had been fitted. These rooms had been redecorated. No odours were evident in the home. All areas were clean and well maintained. The manager reported there was a refurbishment plan in place for ongoing work.
One person said they felt staff were patient and caring. They said staff knew what they needed help with, although they did most things for themselves. This person said 'Staff are very patient and I think they are very calm as sometimes I would get annoyed with people. They are always cheerful and respond quickly when a request is made to them. The home is clean and comfortable. I can speak to the staff or the manager if I have any concerns.'
We also spoke with staff and observed their practices in order to determine how care and support for people was carried out. We saw people were comfortable and relaxed.
