People told us that staff knew them well and knew the things that they liked. We found records did not always contain person centred information to best support the people. We observed that a person had an item which was sentimental to them which was not easily accessible.

People told us staff knew the things they liked. One person told us how staff supported them to go to the pub and another told us about how staff knew they liked to go to Morrison's for cake and coffee.

On our second visit to the service, we found an item of sentiment to a person which was not accessible to them and was placed behind an item of furniture. This was raised to the manager of the service. We observed that people were offered choice. For example, what they had to eat and drink.

Staff told us they promoted person centred care by offering different choices. For example, there was a set menu, however people could have something different if they wished. The manager told us they had identified the need for additional staff to increase people’s opportunities for social activities but had not been implemented.
