We completed a follow up visit on 05 February 2013 to review improvements to the service. We did not talk to people using the service during this visit.
At the time of our visit there were 14 staff who were currently working for the service. We looked at the recruitment records for seven staff. These were found to contain all the necessary employment checks required before staff commenced employment at the service.
Care plans showed that people and their families had been involved when their care plan had been planned and developed. This was confirmed in discussions we had with people using the service. We were told that people felt safe having staff in their homes and if they had any concerns they would contact the manager of the service who was friendly and approachable.
Staff personnel files showed that the present recruitment systems were not effective or robust. For example, we saw that not all the required checks had been completed prior to staff commencing their employment.
