Responsive
Responsive – this means we looked for evidence that the service met people’s needs. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people’s needs were met through good organisation and delivery. People were involved in their care planning and their preferences, likes and needs were recorded. People's equality and diversity needs were respected. Staff worked in line with these and demonstrated a commitment to promoting people’s rights and choices.

Person-centred Care
People told us they felt supported by the staff. One person told us, “Staff are nice and take me out to places I want to go, I like them.” One relative said, “[Person] will say ring me tomorrow and I’ll let you know if I’m free. I have to make an appointment because they are really getting their life back, we are so pleased for [Person] and it’s all down to the staff at the home."
Staff demonstrated a commitment to promoting people’s rights and choices when supporting them.
Staff were seen promoting people’s rights and choices when supporting them. People’s care record included consideration of their wishes, beliefs and religion. Staff had received training in equality and diversity.

Equity in experiences and outcomes
People told us they were happy with the support staff gave them. During our visit we observed many positive interactions, people appeared comfortable and relaxed when engaging with staff. Relatives spoken with said they felt their loved ones were safe and happy living at Lee Gordon House. One relative said, “They have really supported [Person] with their independence. It’s a fantastic place, I have no worries at all, it’s like a big weight has been lifted for me."
Staff demonstrated an understanding of people’s needs and were committed to supporting people holistically to promote their wellbeing and opportunities to achieve good outcomes.
Care plans included information for staff, so they could support people feel comfortable in new or unfamiliar environments this included details about important routines to the person and any reasonable adjustments which would help encourage them to engage in activities or appointments. Care records also directed staff on how to effectively communicate with people including the use of any communication tools in place for those people who were non-verbal.
