During a routine inspection
Patients told us that treatment options were explained to them and that they signed to confirm consent to their treatment. Patients told us that they were very satisfied with the service they received. Comments included, 'The dentist is lovely. She knows I am nervous so she is very gentle with me', 'The dentist is brilliant. This is not the dentist nearest to where I live but I wouldn't leave' and 'I was not satisfied with my previous dentist ' I wish I had moved here earlier ' I cannot fault this practice'.
The premises were easily accessible and there was a treatment room and toilet facilities on the ground floor to enable people with mobility problems to receive treatment.
The premises were newly renovated and we found them to be clean and hygienic. The dental nurse talked us through the decontamination process for cleaning dental instruments and we found that the process was robust and ensured that equipment used by dentists and dental nurses was sterile.
Dental nurses told us that they felt well supported and that they were appointed a mentor when they were new in post. All staff had completed training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), infection control and safeguarding children/adults from abuse.
There were appropriate systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided.
