Our view of the service

An assessment has been undertaken of a specialist service used by people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people; and providers must have regard to it.’ Primroses Home is a residential care home providing the regulated activity of accommodation and personal care to up to 3 people with learning disabilities and autistic people. At the time of our inspection 3 people were using the service.

People's experience of this service

The service was able to demonstrate how they were meeting the underpinning principles of Right support, Right care and Right culture. Right support People were positive about the care and support they received from staff. They were involved in developing and reviewing care plans and risk assessments. Staff knew the needs of people and ensured that each person received care and support that met their needs. Care plans were informative and had sufficient instructions for staff on how to deliver care and support to people, in accordance with their wishes. Right care Staff were aware of people’s current needs, and they informed the registered manager when a person’s needs had changed. The service worked in partnership with other health and social care professionals to ensure people received effective care. People received care and support in accordance with their preferences, interests and diverse needs. Right culture Staff knew people who used the service well and they provided care and support to them in a kind and compassionate way. People were treated with respect and were given information regarding their care and their views were taken into account. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. Staff were clear about their roles and responsibilities and had access to policies and procedures to inform and guide them.
