Our view of the service

Practice Plus Group Health and Rehabilitation Services (PPG) provide healthcare services at HMP Wakefield. We had previously undertaken a follow up inspection on 23 October 2023 and found the registered provider was in breach of Regulation 17, Good Governance and Regulation 18, Staffing of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 13 August 2024. We assessed four quality statements across safe, effective and well led key questions. At this inspection we found the provider had met the regulations. Systems and processes were effective in monitoring and managing risk to patients. Audits relating to long term conditions, in-possession medicines and fridge temperatures identified concerns relating to quality and safety. PPG had developed guidance for staff regarding the definition of a medication incident and this reflected national guidance. The mental health team were fully staffed and provided therapeutic interventions for patients.
