Our view of the service
Kare Plus Romford provides care and support to people living in their own home. Not everyone using Kare Plus Romford received regulated activity; the CQC only inspects the service being received by people provided with ‘personal care’; help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do we also take into account any wider social care provided. At the time of this inspection, there were 48 people using the service. This assessment was carried out without a visit to the location’s office. We used technology such as electronic file sharing to enable us to review documentation. This assessment was carried out by one Assessor and one Inspector. Assessment activity started on 16 January 2024 and ended on 23 February 2024. We looked at 5 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control and Equity in experiences and outcomes. We gave the service 48 hours’ notice of the inspection. This was because we wanted to make sure someone would be available to support us with the inspection.
People's experience of this service
Safeguarding systems were in place to protect people from abuse. Risks were identified and assessed to ensure people received safe care. Safe recruitment systems were in place to ensure staff were suitable to work with vulnerable people. Staff had been trained in mandatory areas to undertake their roles effectively. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives. Staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. People received care from staff who were caring and had a good relationship with them. People were involved in decisions about their care and were encouraged to be independent and to carry out tasks without support. People received person-centred care. Care plans were personalised and was reviewed regularly. Systems were in place to get feedback from people and staff. Feedback was used to make improvements to the service. Quality assurance systems such as audits were in place to ensure people received personalised and safe care.
