Our view of the service
Aspirations Support is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care and support to people living in their own homes. People who use the service have a learning disability and/or a mental health need. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. The assessment commenced on 25 January 2024 and completed on 27 February 2024. The assessment took place remotely by an assessor and included a meeting with the service director and registered manager on 27 February 2024. We looked at 7 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Assessing Needs; Consent to Care and Treatment; Independence, choice and control and Equity in experiences and outcomes. Following the assessment, the service has received an overall rating of good for all quality statements assessed.
People's experience of this service
People experienced a lifestyle that met their individual expectations, capacity, and preferences. There was a strong sense of empowering people wherever possible and providing facilities where independence would be encouraged and celebrated. People’s health, well-being and safety were paramount. People received appropriate care and support because there were effective systems in place to assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate people's needs. People were involved throughout these processes. This ensured their needs were clearly identified and the support they received was meaningful and personalised. Staff were referred to as ‘caring and kind’. One relative told us, “My relative really likes many of the carers and without exception they are all kind and try to please. Over the years they have built up good relationships with many of them.”
