During a routine inspection
We noted that care plans were thorough and that the planned care recognised the needs and preferences of people who used the service. People told us that the staff were very thoughtful and caring. One person said, 'On the whole the service is very good. I think they are trying very hard'.
Staff awareness of safeguarding adults from abuse was high. People told us that they felt safe when staff were providing care to them. One person said, 'Oh I feel very safe. They take good care of me and are very reassuring'.
We found that an effective staff selection process was in place. The registered manager told us, "We do our best to make sure that care givers have not only the right skills but a caring nature'. A relative told us, 'The staff are well trained and they bond well with my relative'.
An effective complaints system was in place, though it had been used only once in the previous 12 months. The registered manager said, 'I'm confident that our clients all know that we try very hard to get it right all the time. If things go wrong, and it must happen sometimes, then we deal with any complaint, put things right and learn from the experience'.
