During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

At our last inspection on 16 September 2013 we had found there was no evidence that there was a defibrillator in use. This meant people attending the clinic may not receive the prompt emergency treatment.

The provider wrote to us and told us they were compliant. They had completed a risk assessment on 23 September 2013. This assessment explained why they did not have a AED (Automated External Defibrillator). It set out the control measures that were in place.

We found that the provider had taken action and was now compliant with this standard. This was to ensure that in the event of a medical emergency people were provided with prompt emergency treatment. The provider had carried out a risk assessment to ensure that the systems they had in place were sufficient to meet the needs of people who attended the clinic.

During a routine inspection

It was not possible to speak to people who used the service as no one was available during the inspection.

People were given all the information they needed to make an informed decision about their treatment.

Care was assessed and delivered in a way to meet the needs of people who used the service. However, the provider did not ensure resuscitation equipment was adequate and available.

The clinic was observed to be clean and tidy. Hand washing facilities were available in each clinical room.

There was a robust complaints procedure in place that was accessible to people using the service.

At the time of the inspection the registered manager was not available. The provider may find it useful to note that this meant that some information and documentation was not accessible for inspection.
