During an inspection looking at part of the service

On this occasion, we did not speak with people using the service due to inspecting recruitment requirements relating to workers.

We found effective recruitment procedures were in place to ensure that appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.

During a routine inspection

People we spoke with told us they were happy with the treatment they received at the practice. Some people told us they found the walk in service to be a useful way of getting advice during their working day. One person told us "the convenience is a key factor" as it enabled them to see a GP without having to plan around an appointment. One person registered at the practice told us they had "no problem booking an appointment and all the staff are very helpful" and another person told us "I'm usually seen on time".

We found that people were treated with dignity and respect and that they felt well informed and involved in decisions about their treatment. People's needs were assessed and care was suitably planned and delivered. The provider had systems in place to ensure that people were protected from the risk of abuse and staff were aware of the action to take in the event that any form of abuse was suspected. The practice monitored the quality of the service provided and worked to make improvements as a result of feedback. However, the provider could not always demonstrate that suitable checks had been made on staff prior to their starting work.
