During our inspection we spoke with three people who use the service, three staff members, the practice manager and two dentists. People we spoke with told us they were satisfied with the information they received about their treatment options. All three people who were visiting the practice on the day of our inspection told us that they had their treatment explained to them and they were given options. We observed that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. One person said; "Staff are very professional'.
There were arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable medical emergencies, which included staff emergency first aid training.
The practice was clean and well-maintained. However, infection control systems to reduce the risk and spread of infection were not set up for staff to follow or the infection control lead to audit standards.
There was enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. One member of staff told us, 'Generally we have two nurses to one dentist'.
There was an effective complaints system available. Comments and complaints people made were responded to appropriately. All three people we spoke with told us they knew how to complain. Two said they would speak to the practice manager and the third said they would speak to the dentist.
