The practice had an up to date 'child protection' policy and set of procedures in place. This included contact details for staff to raise concerns with the appropriate agencies. Following our visit the practice set up a policy to support vulnerable adults.
Although the practice policy included the requirement for references to be taken before staff were employed, we did not find references in the personnel files we looked at. We did not see evidence of any risk assessments for specific roles or Disclosure and Barring (DBS) checks having been carried out for nursing or administrative members of staff.
We saw records were kept of adverse events, accidents or incidents including actions taken. The practice completed audits/reports following significant events or receiving complaints, in order to learn and make changes as required.
