Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 28 February to 18 March 2024. This included a site visit on 5 March 2024. To carry out our assessment we requested and reviewed evidence from the practice, completed remote clinical searches on the practice’s patient records system, and conducted remote and in-person interviews of staff. Ifield Medical Practice is an NHS GP practice that provides a range of primary care services to approximately 10,350 patients. At our previous inspection in December 2021 we rated the practice as requires improvement for providing safe services, because we found breaches of regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. At this assessment we included 8 quality statements within the safe key question, and found the practice had addressed all our concerns. Overall, the practice is rated good and all key questions are now rated good. This was because the practice provided care in a way that kept people safe and protected them from avoidable harm. Risks to patients, staff and visitors were assessed, monitored and managed effectively. This included child and adult safeguarding processes, staffing including recruitment and supervision, medicines management, health and safety, and the management of information. Additionally, staff feedback was positive about working at the practice. They told us they were happy with the level of support and communication provided by their management team.

The negative comments did not identify any themes or trends. There were also 127 Friends and Family Test responses for this practice within the most recent published records (December 2023). We saw that 91% of patients who responded were positive about their experience of the service they received.
