During a routine inspection
The provider received referrals through the post from the patient's dentist before any treatment was provided.
We saw patients were treated with dignity and respect when they attended the service for their appointment. One patient said, 'The staff are very respectful and kind.' We found the service to be calm and relaxing. One patient we spoke with was complimentary about the service and the staff who worked there.
The orthodontist discussed with patients what the areas of concern were and why they had been referred. We found systems in place to obtain consent from younger patients.
We saw the service was clean and tidy. The decontamination rooms were in the lower ground area (the cellar) with a system in place to ensure the dirty instruments were removed from the surgeries and replaced with clean instruments.
We saw the provider supported the staff to complete their continuing professional development and staff confirmed they had attended training courses relevant to their role.
We found systems in place to monitor the quality of the service delivered by the provider to ensure it was well managed and safe.
