We spoke with people who used the service. They told us they were happy with the service they received. Comments included: 'the staff are friendly", ' I wouldn't want to change my doctor, I'm very happy", " the doctor does listen to you and takes time to explain things"Staff showed an awareness of the cultural and religious values and beliefs of people using the service and how this may affect the care and support they require.
People who used the service were referred to other healthcare services when required and the provider maintained detailed consultation notes in order to ensure people received appropriate care and treatment that met their needs.
Staff received training in safeguarding and were able to describe the possible signs that abuse was occurring. There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff employed by the practice to meet people's needs. However the provider did not always carry out relevant pre-employment checks for new staff to ensure they were fit and suitably qualified to undertake their role.
The provider carried out a satisfaction survey and had a patient participation group which enabled them to monitor the quality of the service provided.
The premises were secure, but the internal fabric of the building and some fixtures and fittings were in a poor state of repair. This meant that people were not being cared for in a clean, hygienic environment and were not protected against the risks of unsafe or unsuitable premises.
