Updated 14 February 2025
Date of assessment: 3 February to 5 February 2025. Oakhill Secure Training Centre (Oakhill STC) provides secure accommodation for up to 80 children, male and female, aged 12 to 19 years, who are serving a custodial sentence or who are remanded to custody by the courts. Health services at Oakhill Secure Training Centre are provided by G4S Health Services (UK) Limited. They are registered with the CQC to provide the regulated activities of diagnostic and screening procedures, and the treatment of disease, disorder and injury. At our previous joint inspection with Ofsted in October 2024 we found 3 breaches of regulation relating to person centred care, safe care and treatment and good governance. We took enforcement action. This report can be found here: https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/11/1027077. The purpose of this inspection was to determine if the provider was meeting the legal requirements and regulations and children were receiving well-led care and treatment. It was carried out by 2 Health and Justice inspectors. During this inspection, we looked at 6 quality statements and reviewed the breaches of regulation from the previous inspection. We spoke with health care staff, children, staff employed by Oakhill STC, reviewed systems and procedures, carried out observations and sampled a range of children’s electronic clinical records. We found that significant improvements had been made. However, there were still some breaches of regulations which had not been fully met. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to these concerns.
