During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on Friday 13 September 2024. We found the practice had met all regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. Fortune Green Dental Surgery practice is in West Hampstead in the London borough of Camden and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice and dedicated parking for disabled people was available near the practice. The practice had 2 treatment rooms, but only 1 was in use at the time of our assessment. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist and the dental nurse, who also covered reception duties.

During a routine inspection

During our visit only one out of two treatment rooms was operational. Two dentists were working in this surgery supported by two dental nurses.

On the day of our inspection the dental surgery was clean and appeared well maintained. Patients told us they were happy with the cleanliness and that they found it was always clean. The practice was appropriately equipped to provide dental services.

We found that patients' needs were assessed and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual treatment plan.

Patients told us that they were "happy with the staff and the dentist" and that the dentist offered 'good treatment and explained everything.' We were also told that they were provided with treatment plans and estimates were prepared for them. We found that records were fit for purpose and were kept securely.

Staff working at the surgery were well supported by the provider. They were offered suitable training, were competent and had the required knowledge. The dentist working at the clinic was suitably qualified and held appropriate registration with the organisation regulating dental professionals.

The provider had systems in place to make sure patients were provided with information on how to complain and to ensure their comments were listened to and acted on effectively.
