During a routine inspection
People told us they were given information about treatment options and their cultural needs were taken into account. We found that people were able to express their views in patient participation group meetings. People said they felt staff respected them. One person said, “I would say something if the staff were rude.” Another person told us, “The main problem is getting an appointment. It’s very hard.”
People told us the doctors took their needs and medical history into account. We found evidence that staff were able to keep up with relevant research and guidance. There were arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies.
We found evidence that steps had been taken to protect people from abuse. There was an identified safeguarding lead and staff were familiar with reporting procedures.
People told us they felt there were enough appropriately skilled and experienced staff, although one person said "there could be more doctors." Staff told us they received support to carry out their roles and we found that staff had opportunities for professional development.
We found the service dealt appropriately with complaints and people were asked for their views. Clinical and non-clinical aspects of the service were discussed at meetings.
