Our view of the service
We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 15 May 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks, and the recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and they were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. 488 Smile Avenue is in Birmingham and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 2 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 1 dental therapist and 1 practice manager. The practice had 2 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses and the practice manager.
People's experience of this service
On the day of inspection, we saw patient feedback from 6 patients. Of the 6 patients that responded, comments included “Reception staff are very helpful and friendly” and “always a great experience from the moment you arrive”. Staff gathered feedback from patients and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
