During a routine inspection
The service was able to demonstrate that people were asked for their consent before they proceeded with the service, and this was clearly documented in people's records. We found that staff followed national guidance and protocols when delivering the service, and staff told us that they referred to information and guidance from the Department of Health, to ensure that they provided the most appropriate service to people.
We noted that there were up to date policies and procedures in place for handling medicines, and staff told us that they referred to the most recent online guidance to ensure that they prescribed and dispensed medicines appropriately and safely.
We reviewed staff files, and found that there were suitable systems in place to ensure that only appropriately vetted and qualified staff were able to work at the clinic. Staff told us that they were well supported in their roles.
We noted that staff were scrutinised to ensure that their skills remained current. There was evidence of appraisal and supervision in staff files. Medicines were checked regularly to ensure that stock levels were accurate and dispensing procedures were being followed. We saw feedback from people which showed that people were happy with the service they received.
