At the assessment on 11 December 2024 we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation: The practice’s governance and leadership arrangements had improved to ensure sustainability in the longer term. Staff told us there was strong leadership with emphasis on people’s safety and continually striving to improve. The practice manager had allocated time for governance at the practice. Staff and leaders told us of the systems in place to manage risks for patients, staff, equipment and the premises.

Processes for identifying and managing risks had improved. There was improved oversight and effective systems in place for the monitoring of the risks associated with fire safety, electrical installations, control and storage of substances hazardous to health, the use of X-ray equipment and the management of Legionella. The practice had implemented robust systems to ensure that checks of medical emergency equipment and medicines were effective. An infection prevention and control audit completed since our last assessment was reflective of the practice. The practice had also made further improvements: Practice policies and risk assessments had been updated and reflected the practice processes. The practice’s infection control procedures and protocols had been improved taking into account the guidelines issued by the Department of Health in the Health Technical Memorandum. Recruitment processes had been strengthened and were in line with legislation. There was now a system in place to monitor staff training and to ensure that staff undertook periodic training updates in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines appropriate to their role.
