Updated 1 February 2024
The service is a care home with nursing, providing support to people of all ages, including people living with dementia or a physical disability. At the time of the assessment, there were 43 people living at the home. We started our assessment of the service on 30 January 2024. We visited the service site on 19 February 2024 and finished our assessment on 8 March 2024. The inspection was prompted in part due to concerns received about the management of medicines, risk, infection control processes, staffing levels and governance in the home. A decision was made for us to inspect and examine those risks. During the inspection we found risks to people were not always identified and care was not planned to keep people safe. People’s care plans did not accurately reflect their needs. People’s medicines were not always managed safely. Infection control processes in the home did not follow best practice guidance. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs, however, some staff training was out of date which could pose a risk to people. Where restrictions were placed on people who lacked capacity to consent to care, best interest decisions were not always in place to protect people’s rights. We found concerns around good governance, issues not being identified and audits not driving improvements in the home. These concerns resulted in 5 breaches of the regulations. Although we found areas of concern at this assessment, until we have assessed more quality statements in safe and well-led the rating for this service remains the same.
