The provider is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to deliver the regulated activities: family planning, surgical procedures, treatment of disease, disorder or injury, and diagnostic and screening procedures.
The service is primarily a GP service for patients attending for one off illnesses. The service does not provide services for the management of long-term conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. The provider primarily provides services to patients who speak Portuguese or Spanish as a first language, although a proportion of patients who attend the practice are not.
The service is open six days per week. It is open on Monday to Friday from 9am until 7pm, and Saturdays from 9am until 4pm. The service does not formally provide a service outside of these hours. The medical team consists of two GPs, a dermatologist (who is Medical Director and registered manager of the service), a sonographer, a cardiologist, an ear, nose and throat specialist and a practice nurse. This team is supported by a practice manager and a team of receptionists and administrative staff.
To get to the heart of patients’ experiences of care and treatment, we always ask the following five questions:
- Is it safe?
- Is it effective?
- Is it caring?
- Is it responsive to people’s needs?
- Is it well-led?
These questions therefore formed the framework for the areas we looked at during the inspection.
