Our view of the service
Support Solutions (West Sussex) is a domiciliary care agency located in Worthing, West Sussex. The service provides personal care to adults living in their own homes, some of whom were living with long term health conditions, as well as conditions associated with old age and frailty. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care, which includes help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. At the time of the assessment, the agency was providing care and support to 17 people. At the last inspection undertaken on 27 July 2022, we found the provider in breach of Regulation. At this assessment, improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach. The registered manager had improved oversight and management of risks relating to people’s health conditions. Monitoring of recruitment processes had improved and procedures for the safe recruitment of staff was in place. We carried out our on-site assessment on 19 March 2024, assessment activity started on 15 March 2024 and ended on 22 March 2024. We looked at 15 quality statements within the key questions of Safe and Well-led.
People's experience of this service
People told us that they were happy with the service they received. One person said, “It's like a little family. We are well looked after. I would recommend them.” Another person said, "They do everything well, I've got no complaints.” People were protected from avoidable harm and abuse. People told us that staff helped them to feel safe. Risk assessments and care plans guided staff in how to provide care safely and how to support staff to manage specific health needs. People were protected from the spread of infection by staff who wore appropriate protective equipment. There were enough suitable staff employed to cover all the care visits. In general, people said they received their calls on time and for the duration that they expected. Staff supported people to have their prescribed medicines safely. People spoke positively about the engagement and involvement of the registered manager. One person said, “Oh it's excellent. Everything, she's efficient, caring and you couldn’t ask for anything more.” The registered manager encouraged feedback from people, staff and professionals involved in people’s care. Staff worked closely with health professionals and external agencies to promote good outcomes for people. People and staff spoke positively engagement and involvement of the registered manager.
