During a routine inspection

This was the first inspection since the practice was registered with the Care Quality Commission in October 2013. Since then they have gradually acquired around 1,000 patients registered with the practice. This scheduled inspection was to see if patients received a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led service. At the time of this inspection the dental practice provided appointments five and a half days a week with surgery sessions shared between the two dentists.

During the inspection visit we spoke with the partners who were dentists (one who was also the registered manager), the practice manager, and an agency dental nurse. We spoke with a patient who used the service on the day of the inspection. We looked at some of the facilities and the physical environment of the practice. We reviewed records relating to the management of the service, the employment of staff, and some of the overall quality assurance systems in place.

We found that patients received a safe and effective service. Staff were caring and responsive to patients' needs. Patients were provided with treatment at a well-managed and well led service.
