Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
2. The registered provider must submit a report to the Care Quality Commission within 30 days of these conditions taking effect. The report must set out any actions to be taken at The Gables, as a result of the audits and thereafter must send this report to the Care Quality Commission on the first Monday of each month. This report must specify timescales for action to be taken and highlight who is responsible to ensure the required improvements are made.
1. The Registered Provider must undertake at The Gables
a) A monthly audit of all service users’ assessments, care plans and risk assessments. The audit must include how risks have been assessed, monitored and mitigated in relation to service user’s health conditions, support needs and their environment.
b) A monthly audit of service users’ ability to consent to care and treatment. The audit must identify how the Mental Capacity Act 2005 is adhered to where a service user lacks mental capacity to make an informed decision or give consent. It must include a review of the information recorded in the mental capacity assessments and the best interest decisions and a review of the opinions of those consulted. It must also include a review of any Power of Attorney in place.
c) A monthly health and safety audit. This must identify any required fire safety actions and how they are to be addressed and by when. Any measures required to ensure service users safety in relation to the environment, equipment, utilities, maintenance and security.
d) A monthly choking audit. The audit must identify who is at risk from choking and the actions taken to mitigate these risks.
e) A monthly pressure ulcer audit. The audit must identify who is at risk from pressure ulcers and the actions taken to mitigate these risks.
f) A monthly records audit. The audit must identify if full and contemporaneous records have been maintained for the provision of service user's care.
g) A monthly audit of staff supervisions and training. This must identify staff training needs, how these will be met and by when. It must also identify which staff are not up to date with their supervisions and how this will be addressed.
h) A monthly audit of service users medicine records. The audit must identify any recording or administration errors and care plan/risk assessment/PRN protocol updates.
Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The registered provider must not provide nursing care under accommodation for persons who require personal or nursing care at The Gables.
The registered provider must only accommodate a maximum of 24 service users at The Gables.
