During a routine inspection
We were told us that Dawlish Hospital is 'lovely' and "the best" and when we asked three people what made it so good they said 'the staff are all so kind and helpful', 'it's a comfortable place to be and everyone is so kind' and 'it's so friendly'.
People enjoy the meals and are completely satisfied with the food served at Dawlish Hospital. Comments included 'the meals are very good' and' we are always given a choice'. One person said that although they enjoy the meals they are given too large a helping which can be off putting. Another person said the meals were 'a bit gloopy'.
All people we spoke to during this visit told us they are well cared for by all staff and they feel safe and secure at Dawlish hospital. We were told that staff were competent, attentive and caring.
On the day of this visit all areas of the hospital were very clean and fresh and people confirmed that this was always the case.
People told us that they knew how to complain about their care or treatment and told us they would not hesitate to do so if they were unhappy. They also confirmed they were confident that their records were confidential and understood that their records were shared with other health professionals involved with their care and support.
