During a routine inspection
Staff gained consent before carrying out care or treatment and one patient told us that staff treated them with 'decency and respect'. Staff did not fully understand mental capacity assessments however we saw that Mental Capacity Act assessments were completed.
One patient told us that they could not fault the care they had received and it was 'absolutely excellent'.
Risk assessments and care plans were completed and actions taken to address issues for two records we reviewed. However care plans and risk assessments were not always completed within the first 72 hours of admission. The matron told us they would be taking immediate measures to address the shortfalls.
The provider had undertaken sufficient recruitment checks before staff started work at the hospital.
There were effective systems in place to monitor the health and safety of the hospital and the quality of care.
