During an inspection looking at part of the service
We spoke with four people who used the service, a visiting parent and two other relatives were spoken with by telephone. All of the people we spoke with were very happy with the care they received. One person told us "They look after you very well here". Another person commented, "The support I get here is marvellous. I have just come back from a holiday in London". A visiting parent told us 'My son is really involved in his care and I am aware of and included in the transition plan for him to move on. This has worked well in the past. What he has got is great as it is.'
People were provided with care plans which were reviewed regularly and updated when required. People said they felt safe living in the home and were able to discuss concerns or issues with the staff if they wished to. Risk assessments were reviewed regularly so that people and staff were safe.
Staff received training and supervision to enable them to carry out their roles effectively and care for the people they supported

involved in the planning of their care and were supported with their medication. They said that they were given choices. Their views were respected and staff encouraged them to be part of the local community and to use the local facilities for education and leisure.
People we spoke with told us that they were safe and comfortable and "love my own
room". Others told us about their hobbies and how staff had helped them to do things they enjoyed, like attending coolege classes, day trips and holidays.
We saw that the people living in the home are involved in planning their care and are in
control of how their support is provided for them. They told us they had been very involved in making sure that the shortfalls reported at the last Inspection had been addressed.
Everyone we spoke to said they received the support they needed with their physical
healthcare. People said they got on well with the staff and they felt well supported by
people working at the home.

During a themed inspection looking at Learning Disability Services
We asked people if they were involved in planning the care they received. People told us that they were and that they could decide on activities they wanted to get involved in. They said that staff helped them make choices. One person told us, "People listen here, we get lots of support from the staff."
People told us they had the opportunity to get involved with a variety of activities. People talked to us about visiting the gym, cycling groups and fishing trips. People had frequent activities during the day, on weekdays and weekends. However there were limited activities in the evening and people were expected to go to their bedroom in the evening and to remain there until morning.
We spoke to the family of one person. They were pleased with the care provided to their relative at North Lodge. They visited North Lodge regularly and were made welcome.
We asked people how they felt about living at the home and the staff who look after them. Everyone we spoke to said the staff were kind and treat people fairly. One person said staff helped him when he felt 'fed up'. People said they felt safe at North Lodge.
