During an inspection looking at part of the service
When we visited there were two postnatal women on site. We were only able to speak with one woman and her partner. Antenatal clinics were operating during our visit and we were able to speak with a woman attending for an appointment.
The people we spoke with commented positively about their experiences of the Birthing Centre. They were able to tell us about the personalised and responsive way in which their antenatal care was provided. They were also able to comment about the individualised postnatal care which they found responsive to their concerns and fears and the need for support. A couple told us that from their experience this type of input would not have been possible in the main maternity unit because of how busy they were.
We were told "Crowborough Birthing Centre is the best experience of the NHS we have ever had".
