Both people were subject to legal orders that meant their capacity to make decisions for themselves had been assessed and that it had been concluded they needed special support. We spoke to and spent time with both people living in Rohan. People were given support with their communication to express their needs and preferences. We spent as much time as we were able to, observing and talking with the people living at Rohan. We saw friendly and polite interactions between the people using the service and the staff.

People were assisted to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. Activities were designed to encourage hobbies and interests in the home, and with staff support and monitoring, people were able to go out. People were regularly assessed and their needs were monitored by a team of professionals.

The systems for giving medicines were safe and people's medication needs were reviewed on a regular basis.

The manager followed a robust recruitment process and made sure that the right staff worked in the service to meet the complex needs of the people using the service.

Both of the people who use services had multiple and complex needs for support. One

person used sounds, objects and pointing to express them-self. The other person's speech

needed to be understood using a combination of clues such as their mood and conduct.

Both of them could also express themselves in ways that sometimes had resulted in other

people having minor injuries.

Each person had an advocate who represented their best interests.

Both people said or indicated that they liked their home, were consulted about their

preferred routines and that they received the support they needed. The advocates said

that each person was settled and happy living in their home.
