During a routine inspection

We spoke with six informal and detained patients during our visit. We made contact with some patients in the communal areas of the unit and also saw patients in private where appropriate. Patients generally told us they felt well cared for and were generally happy on the unit.

Newly admitted patients commented that a small number of staff could be condescending at times. Patients who had been at the unit for longer periods were very complementary about staff. Detained patients told us that they had been given information about their rights. One patient said "I like it here"; another said the care and treatment they received on the unit "helped me get better".

We found that this location of the Trust was compliant with the outcomes we looked at including outcomes on involving people, care and welfare, premises, staffing levels, staff support, quality assurance and complaints.
