During an inspection looking at part of the service

We spoke to seven people during this visit to Dawlish hospital. Each person told us they were very satisfied with the care they received. We also spoke with three relatives' and they told us how 'delighted' they were with the improvement in their relatives state of health since they had been admitted to the hospital. People told us they felt involved in their care and understood the treatment they were receiving and had been told of options open to them. People told us that staff are respectful and that they feel listened to.

We were told that Dawlish Hospital is 'like being in a hotel' and 'I've had excellent care since I came here [from another hospital]. All of those we spoke to praised the professionalism and friendliness of all staff at the hospital.

We were told that the quality of the meals was 'excellent' and that people are offered a choice, and they can change their minds 'on the day'. Comments included; ' they give me the right size of meals because I have lost my appetite and large meals can be very off putting', 'The meals are always so well presented'.
