The Registered Provider must implement effective governance systems which enables it to oversee the service, identify and address areas for improvement to ensure that service users receive high quality and person-centred care. These systems must include the following to ensure that improvements made are sustained and embedded in practice:
� The Registered Provider must implement effective care plans and risk assessments that give staff clear guidelines to follow. The provider must identify and address areas of need and areas of risk.
� The Registered Provider must ensure all �as and when required medicines� have clear instruction on how/when medicines are to be used. These medicines should be reviewed on a regular basis in accordance with NICE guidelines and the prescriber�s instructions.
� The Registered Provider must confirm that all service users who require an assessment under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 have received one, that any steps required under that Act (including Deprivation of Liberty notifications) have been taken, and that service users care records have been updated accordingly.
� The Registered Provider must confirm that it has assessed environmental Health and safety risks to service users. The Registered Provider must ensure that environmental health and safety risk assessments are completed and that adequate systems are in place to mitigate future risk to staff and service users.
The Registered Provider must send CQC a report setting out what actions have been taken to improve and sustain the quality of the care provided. This report must include a summary of the governance actions put in place or taken, and any action plan to continue to complete and sustain improvements. The report must be received by the Care Quality Commission within two weeks of the condition coming into effect and subsequent, updated reports must also be sent on the last day of each month thereafter.
