Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 15 May to 28 June 2024. Green Porch Medical Centre is an NHS GP practice located in Sittingbourne, Kent in an area of high deprivation. There were approximately 8,668 people registered with the service at the time of our assessment. We conducted this assessment due to the practices previous rating of Requires Improvement, as well as it being 12 months since the practice was removed from a second period of special measures. We assessed 17 quality statements across Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led key questions and have combined the scores for these areas with scores from the last inspection. At this assessment, we found there was a strong focus on learning and making improvements. We saw the practice management team investigated concerns and audited appropriately. Staff involved people in decisions about their care and treatment and supported them to ask questions. Care and treatment was routinely monitored to ensure people received care and treatment in line with best practice guidance. Improvements required in access had been made. The provider had clear and effective governance systems, which staff and leaders regularly reviewed and updated as required.
People's experience of this service
People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Where negative feedback had been provided to the practice, we saw these had been reviewed by the practice management team; appropriate actions taken to ensure people received care and treatment to meet their needs; staff had received updated training and policies/procedures had been amended to reflect lessons learned. Recent survey results, including from the National GP Patient Survey the NHS Friends and Family Test and the practices own survey, showed people were satisfied with services. There was an active patient participation group (PPG) who represented the views of people using the service.
