Our view of the service

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. We carried out this assessment from the 10 April to the 21 August 2024. We visited The Old Vicarage on 21 May and the provider head office on 10 April and 14 August 2024. We looked at 13 quality statement across the 5 key questions we use to inform our assessments. This included 5 quality statements from the Safe section, 2 from the Effective section, 1 from the Caring section, 1 from the Responsive section and 4 from the Well Led section. People were supported in a safe way from a staff group who had an excellent knowledge of their needs. This had resulted in people receiving person centred care. Their independence and life goals were regularly reviewed to ensure people lived meaningful lives. The processes to monitor care at the service were undertaken in line with the provider’s robust quality monitoring systems. This resulted in a coordinated team approach to achieve excellent outcomes for people who lived at the service.

People's experience of this service

People were able to live as full a life as possible and relatives we spoke with were extremely happy with the care their family members received. A number of people living at the service were non-verbal, however, we saw staff working with people to capture their views on their everyday care. People experienced a wide range of activities to suit their needs and were supported to maintain positive relationships with their relatives.
