Our view of the service

The assessment took place on 13 March 2024 to 08 May 2024. This assessment was planned in response to concerns raised about the management of risk. The assessment covered 15 quality statements. LDC Supported Living is a supported living service for autistic people or people with a learning disability. At the time of this assessment there were 39 people receiving regulated activity using the service. Not everyone using LDC Supported Living receives a regulated activity from LDC Care Company Ltd. CQC only inspects the service being received by people provided with ‘personal care’, help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also take into account any wider social care provided. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. The assessment included a visit to the service to meet people and the registered manager. We also spoke with relatives and staff on the telephone, and we reviewed documentation we requested from the provider. We did not identify any breaches of regulation during this inspection and the service had made improvements. Safeguarding systems and processes were now in place to protect people from risk of abuse, staff were now recruited safely and there were now effective governance systems in place to support the management of the service. We saw some areas of exceptional practice where people had received extremely individualised support to have equal opportunities which had enabled people to achieve fantastic outcomes. Following the assessment, the service has received an overall rating of Good.

People's experience of this service

People were happy with the support they received from LDC Supported Living and felt safe. We spoke with 10 people and six relatives, and the feedback was positive. People told us they liked the staff who supported them. Many of the people we met with were unable to verbalise their experiences however feedback from people’s loved ones was positive about LDC Supported Living. We observed people being supported by staff that were kind and respected people’s individual wishes and preferences. People were supported to achieve amazing outcomes that exceeded expectations about people’s physical, psychological, and social needs. A relative shared with the service, ‘We were saying about how much [loved one] has improved since being in your care. The tremendous trust [person] has in you. [Person] has come on leaps and bounds. Not only socially but generally in health and achievements…Our wish is that [loved one] can continue to be with you in [their] house and remain as happy as [person] is today.’ People and those important to them had opportunities to share feedback with LDC Supported Living and felt their feedback was listened to.
