Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the service involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.  At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Treating people as individuals

The service treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.  During our assessment we observed all staff treating people with kindness, respect and dignity. People and their relatives told us staff were caring and respectful.

Independence, choice and control

Responding to people’s immediate needs

The service listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes. Staff respond to people’s needs. However, people told us due to staffing levels they were not always enough staff to support people should they want to have individual support from staff. We witnessed people asking for support from staff when they were busy, this was particularly noticeable when the registered manager was trying to carry out their managerial tasks, due to being busy people were asked to wait.

Workforce wellbeing and enablement

The service cared about and promoted the wellbeing of their staff, and supported and enabled staff to always deliver person-centred care.  Staff told us they enjoyed working at the service and there was a low turnover of staff. We reviewed supervision records and staff told us they received meaningful supervisions and felt supported by the registered manager.
