Equity in experiences and outcomes

People and relatives told us people were treated with respect with no examples of any discrimination. One relative told us, "[Relative] is treated with humanity." Another relative told us about how their relative only had female care staff which was their preference. They said, "I have no concerns about [relative's] human rights." People and relatives were involved in people's care and encouraged to share any concerns with the management.

Staff were aware of people's needs and had been provided with training to help them overcome any barriers. For example, the registered manager told us staff had been provided with training on specific communication needs for 1 person to help them understand their needs. The registered manager told us they also encouraged relatives to be involved in people's care and share their knowledge of people with staff.

Systems were in place to ensure people had the healthcare they needed. Healthcare professionals told us people were referred to them appropriately and in a timely way. People's care records contained details of their needs and how best to support them. The registered manager told us people had a pre-admission assessment completed prior to moving into the service. They told us they did not judge or label people and encouraged staff to meet people's needs whilst respecting people's wishes.
