Our view of the service
We carried out this on-site unannounced assessment on 16 July 2024. We found the practice had not met all regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and their care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was a culture of continuous improvement. However, there were ineffective systems to manage risks and infection control procedures did not fully reflect published guidance. Heath Street Dental is in Hampstead in the London Borough of Camden and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 1 principal dentist, 5 dentists, 3 specialist dentists, 1 consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon, 1 qualified dental nurse and 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 practice manager and 2 receptionists. The practice had 4 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist, 2 dental nurses, 2 receptionists and the practice manager. The provider was not complying with 1 regulation. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the quality statement section of the report. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
People's experience of this service
During our assessment, we saw patient feedback from 6 patients. Their responses and additional patient feedback we reviewed provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. The practice collected patient feedback and shared feedback with the team. Comments included, “I had a great experience at Heath Street Dental Clinic. The receptionist was extremely welcoming, and the dentist and their assistants were kind and attentive throughout” and “I have been coming to the practice for a few years now and I am so happy I found them!” We were told feedback was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. The practice demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
