Caring
People were cared for by staff who were kind and respectful.

Independence, choice and control
The service has an Equality and Diversity policy in place and staff were provided with relevant training. People were supported by staff to maintain their independence. Care provided in the service was personalised. Staff promoted person centred care to make sure everyone received a level of care to meet their needs and respected their wishes and independence.
People were not able to verbally communicate with us in relation to the care and support they received, however we observed staff to be kind and respectful to people and people looked relaxed in the company of staff. One relative told us; "The staff are excellent, very professional, not just to [person] but to the others as well. They are really caring and empathetic, they can’t do enough for [person]."
Staff knew people well and were able to communicate with them effectively to enable them to make choices. One member of staff said, "People can make their own choices, [person] uses finger pointing to tell us what they want." Other comments from staff included; “We are pretty good at involving people in their own care, we promote independence.”
