Kindness, compassion and dignity
On the day of inspection, we spoke with 2 patients. They told us they were well cared for and happy at the practice. One patient travelled over an hour to get to the practice, as they did not want to move to a practice closer to home. Staff helped patients to be involved in decisions about their care and gave patients clear information to help them make informed choices about their treatment. Dentists used an intra-oral camera to help explain treatment options to patients. Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. They told us they had received a courtesy call following dental treatment. Staff confirmed that all patients who had received treatment received a courtesy call the following day to check they had no problems and had recovered well. Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected.
Staff were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights. Staff were aware of the importance of privacy and confidentiality. Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles. Leaders described how they supported the wellbeing of staff.
We did not receive any information from partners.
The practice had information governance arrangements and staff were aware of the importance of protecting patients’ personal information. Staff password protected patients’ electronic care records, and paper records were stored securely and complied with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). We saw the general environment helped to protect patients’ privacy and dignity. Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion.
