We rated caring as good. We assessed 1 quality statement. People’s care plans contained information about the type of decisions they were able to make and how best to support them to make these decisions. People’s independence was promoted, they had control over their care improving their wellbeing.

Independence, choice and control
People’s choices were documented in plans of care. People told us their independence was promoted. One person said, “I can choose what I want to do.”
The staff provide information about the care and treatment options available to people they support. This includes explaining things in a way that is easy to understand. Staff take time to answer any questions people may have to ensure they are fully informed before giving their consent. Details of the care or treatment agreed upon, and any specific preferences or conditions expressed by the individual are detailed in their plans of care.
People had access to specialist and adaptive equipment to promote independence. People were given choices and had control over how their care and support was delivered.
The management team involved people and their relatives in developing their care plans. This included identifying their needs on the grounds of equality characteristics and looking at how those needs would be met. It also included finding out about their choices and preferences. People were encouraged to make choices and decisions following their care plans.
