Well-led
We looked at one quality statement under the key question well-led; capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders. During our assessment we found that staff members had clear roles and responsibilities. People were positive about the communication received from members of the office team. Staff told us there was good communication with the office, and they were well supported. They told us they mainly spoke with the care manager and care coordinator, rather than the registered manager. During our assessment, we addressed concerns received from outside partners with the leadership of the service. We were not assured the leadership acted with good intentions.
This service scored 62 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
We did not look at Shared direction and culture during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Well-led.
Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders
The majority of staff had positive experiences and described a supportive environment, where they felt able to raise concerns; “If I need help I can go to the office any time; they will welcome me.” and “Communication with the office is very good, they’re available on call whenever I need them.” However, another staff member told us, whilst they get on with the registered manager she “can be full on and overbearing.” Staff told us they mainly spoke with the care manager and care coordinator, rather than the registered manager.
The service had clear processes in place for lines of communication with different members of the management team. Team meetings took place, although there was little evidence to suggest that staff members had the opportunity to share their views, with meetings being task orientated. Leadership concerns brought to our attention by outside partners were explored with the provider. Partner agencies are addressing concerns raised directly with the provider.
