Delivering evidence-based care and treatment
People told us staff delivered their care in a way which suited them and was in line with their choices. People discussed examples of how staff ensured they had enough food and drinks throughout the duration of their call time, and refreshments were accessible to them between care calls. One person told us “Yes they make my porridge, they never leave without making me some food or a snack.” Someone else said “Oh yes the care staff make my meals and they will often leave me a snack throughout the day if I say I need one- I always have drinks available to me.”
Staff told us care plans reflected people current care needs, preferred routines and also described personal information important to the person. One staff member told us “Once I go through the care plan, I read up about things if I am not familiar with what it means." They also told us, "One of the people I support likes dancers so I learnt how to dance and took an interest in this.” Another staff member told us “I use the care plan. Some people like getting up early. I read the notes that are given to me.”
Care plans recorded monitoring information where required to ensure people were being offered enough food and fluid, which staff completed during each care call. Staff completed other records, such as personal care records and bathwater temperatures to ensure people were getting care and support which was important to them. We found a clear log of the support completed by staff, that had been given to people.
