Well-led

Regulations met

Updated 22 November 2024

We found the Trust had implemented effective measures to address the issues we had identified during our previous inspection. We found that learning was shared from safety incidents and implemented successfully to improve patient care, embedded multidisciplinary team working, staffing and gathering of patient feedback.

Regulations met

Staff and leaders had acted promptly following the 2023 inspection to act on the concerns identified in the report and within the requirement notice. The provider had invested in its staff and management with support and upskilling staff to better develop the service. Improved incident report and analysis were evident and with more meaningful multidisciplinary team meetings. Staff and leaders we spoke with described a more embedded culture in improvement and capturing patient feedback. Staff gave examples of changes made through focus groups held for the detainees and had a "you said, we did" tracker.

Improved detainees focus groups and the ability for detainees to leave feedback at digital kiosks around the center allowed for better collection of feedback. This feedback was analyzed for trends and themes and further divided into departments and specialties for issues impacting detainees. Data from this was also shared with departments both positive and negative to improve care. For example a regular complaint in focus groups was the initial use of paracetamol for pain. The use of a visual pain relief information poster was to be designed explaining why paracetamol was administered in the first instance and options from there for additional pain management.
